This award is presented annually to a senior accounting major who shines in academia, expresses a serious interest in accounting, and demonstrates a desire to continue in the accounting field. 
 
 “Accounting has challenged me both academically and as a person. Classes have demanded a lot of hard work and time. However, I really enjoyed pushing myself outside of my comfort zone and realizing learning does not end when class is over.”

This award is presented annually to a senior accounting major who excels in both academics and demonstrates a strong interest in fraud prevention and detection.

Rachel Spielholtz

This award is presented annually to a graduating accounting major who has been admitted to Lehigh’s Masters in Accounting and Information Analysis Program and has achieved academic excellence. 
 
 “Through my accounting courses at Lehigh, I have developed critical thinking and problem solving skills that will unquestionably be valuable in my future career, specifically in audit. Moreover, I have gained analytical skills and a strong sense of skepticism. This award is presented annually to a senior accounting major who excels in both academics and extracurricular activities. 
 
“Accounting is the foundation of business, but accounting is definitely not limited to book knowledge. Learning accounting enhances my professional knowledge; practicing accounting during my internship provides me hands-on experiences and improves my time-management skill; doing accounting well awards me achievement and confidence. Drew Berger '17

2016 Tauck Scholar

Drew Berger - accounting student

This is awarded to highly motivated juniors and seniors to give them the chance to do international summer internships that will help them in their career endeavors. Drew, who is from Rye Brook, NY, is expecting to graduate with a finance/accounting major and a real estate minor. He has interned with Ernst & Young’s FSO Audit Group in both New York City and London, as well as Savills-Studley, a Commercial Real Estate Broker. While at Lehigh, Drew was a member of the Accounting Club, Real Estate Club, Beta Alpha Psi, Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity, Friends of Israel, Chabad at Lehigh, and TAMID Group.

This is awarded to the sophomore with the best semester average for the sophomore year at Lehigh. Anne, who is from West Chester, PA, is expecting to graduate in Spring 2017 as an accounting major. She is currently interning with KPMG’s Federal Tax group in Philadelphia. At Lehigh, Anne is a member of BAP and the Varsity Cross Country and Track & Field team.

Hilbert Chen '17

2016 Martindale Student Associate

Hilbert Chen - accounting student

This is awarded to a select group of Lehigh juniors and seniors to actively explore global business and economic issues. Hilbert, who is from Livingston, NJ, is expecting to graduate in 2017 as a finance and accounting major. After graduation, he will begin full-time employment in Banking & Capital Markets Assurance at PwC in New York, where he previously interned. He also interned with ADP in Operational Risk Management in Roseland, NJ. Hilbert made the Dean’s List during his time at Lehigh. He is a board member on the CBE Student Board of Advisors, president of Ascend Pan-Asian Leaders, and vice-president of the Fitness & Weightlifting Club.

Stewart Dix '16

2016 PwC Fellowship Award

Stewart Dix - accounting student

This is awarded to outstanding PwC-affiliated students to pursue MSAIA degree at Lehigh. Stewart, who is from Ashland, Ohio, is expecting to graduate in May 2017 with a Master’s degree in accounting. He anticipates working full-time with PwC’s Real Estate Tax group in New York, where he previously interned. Stewart also worked as a finance intern for Prudential Mortgage Capital Company in Newark, NJ. During his time at Lehigh, Stewart made the Dean’s List. He was also involved with Kappa Sigma, the Accounting Club, the Fly Fishing Club, and Feed the Children.

Samantha Femia '16

Presidential Scholar

Samantha Femia - accounting student

This is awarded for fifth year of tuition on the basis of outstanding scholarship as an undergraduate. Sam, who is from Middle Village, NY, graduated with her accounting degree a semester early in December 2015. At that time, she was granted the Presidential Scholar Award. Sam used a portion of this award in the Spring 2016 semester, during which she completed the remaining credits necessary for the 150-credit requirement for the CPA. At Lehigh, Sam was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Beta Alpha Psi, and the Alpha Psi Sorority. Sam will spend the summer and fall of 2016 studying for the CPA, as well as traveling throughout Europe. She plans to have all four parts of the CPA exam completed prior to beginning her full-time work in Audit at PwC (New York) in January 2017.

Emma K. Hillman '16

Institute of Internal Auditors Senior Award and Presidential Scholar

Emma Hillman - accounting student

This is awarded to an outstanding senior who is interested in auditing and has a high scholastic standing and qualities of leadership and Presidential Scholar is awarded for fifth year of tuition on the basis of outstanding scholarship as an undergraduate.  Emma, who is from Stockton, New Jersey, graduated in May 2016 as an accounting major and history minor. She is expecting to graduate in May 2017 with her Master’s in accounting and information analysis. Emma will start her full-time employment with Ernst and Young’s Assurance group in New York after completing her Master’s degree. She previously interned with EY in Iselin and Dublin, Ireland. Emma is also a Tauck Scholar. At Lehigh, she was involved with Beta Alpha Psi, the Accounting Club Executive Board, and the TRAC Mentor Fellows program.

Michael Horgan '16

2016 PwC Fellowship Award

Michale Horgan

This is awarded to outstanding PwC-affiliated students to pursue MSAIA degree at Lehigh. Michael, who is from Hopewell, NJ, graduated in 2016 as an accounting major, and is currently pursuing his Master’s. He previously interned with PwC’s core assurance group in Philadelphia.  Michael graduated with honors and received the global management certificate. At Lehigh, he is a Global Citizenship program member, Student Senate chair of the Inclusion committee, president of the Caring for Cambodia Club, and captain of the Men’s Running Club.

Ansah Yasmine Kamara '16

Phila. Philanthropic Society for Information Mgmt. Scholarship

Ansah Yasmine Kamara - accounting student

Ansah is from Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire and graduated in 2016 with her Bachelor of Business and Economics.  She will begin her full-time employment with Ernst and Young’s Risk Advisory group in Philadelphia. Ansah has also received the Donald and Dorothy Stabler Scholarship and the Donald Wilkstrom Scholarship. At Lehigh, she was co-president of NABA, treasurer of the African Caribbean Culture Club (ACCC), and a member of Beta Alpha Psi.

Matthew Kleinhenz '17

Matthew Kleinhenz - accounting student

This is awarded to a select group of Lehigh juniors and seniors to actively explore global business and economic issues. Matthew, who is from Laurys Station, PA, is expecting to graduate in 2017 as an accounting major. In summer 2016, he is interning with PwC’s Assurance Group in New York City; he was previously an Iacocca International Intern in Dortmund, Germany.  At Lehigh, Matthew is President and Captain of the Club Soccer Team, part of the CBE Student Board of Advisors, and a member of Beta Alpha Psi, the Accounting Club and the Association of Student Alumni.

He previously interned at JP Morgan and is currently interning at Bank of America with their global wealth and investment management group.

Katherine, who is from Summit, NJ, graduated in May 2016 as an accounting and art major. She is beginning her full-time employment with PwC’s assurance group in Florham Park, NJ, where she previously interned. Katherine also was a Dean Scholar, a Division I Scholar of Distinction, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the National Academic Squad. During her time at Lehigh, she was treasurer of Beta Alpha Psi, president of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a Gryphon, and a member of the Lehigh Field Hockey Team.

Morgan Lowe  - accounting student

This is awarded to an outstanding junior in the College of Business and Economics and 2016 Martindale Student Associate is awarded to a select group of Lehigh juniors and seniors to actively explore global business and economic issues. Morgan, who is from Lancaster, PA, is expecting to graduate in 2017 with an accounting degree from Susquehanna University as a transfer student. She is interning with PwC’s assurance group in Harrisburg, PA. At Lehigh, Morgan was the accountant club treasurer, part of Dean Zalatan’s CBE Council, and a member of Women’s Varsity Volleyball and Student-Athletes Leading Social Change (SALSC).

Evan Mulbry '16

Evan Mulbry - accounting student

This is awarded to a senior who is outstanding in accounting. Evan, who is from Charleston, South Carolina, graduated in May 2016 with a B.S. in accounting. He started with PwC’s Forensics group in New York City after graduation. He previously interned with PwC in IT Consulting in Baltimore. While at Lehigh, he was a CBE Fellow, computer science grader, apprentice teacher for business law, and Gryphon society member. Evan also taught at the Northampton County Jail, and he was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma honors society.

Chris Parsons - accounting student

This is awarded to fifth year students at Lehigh on the basis of leadership, citizenship, and scholarship and 2016 Federation of Schools of Accountancy is awarded to an outstanding MSAIA student. Chris, who is from Garnet Valley, PA, graduated as a finance and accounting major in 2015, and he finished his Master’s in accounting and information analysis in 2016. Chris will begin full-time employment with PwC in their Transaction Services-Valuation group in their New York City office. He previously was a Presidential Scholar and a Tauck Scholar. At Lehigh, Chris was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma business honor society and a College of Business and Economics Fellow.

This is awarded to a senior accounting major who is outstanding in academic achievement and leadership. Elizabeth, who is from Staten Island, NY, graduated in May 2016 as an accounting major and communications minor. She is starting her full-time employment with Ernst and Young’s Assurance group in New York. Elizabeth previously interned with EY in New York and Johnson & Johnson in Somerville, NJ. She has previously received the Nelson Leighton Bond Memorial Prize Award, the Class of 1904 Scholarship, the Patti I. Ota Women’s Study Award, the Elisha P. Wilbur Scholarship Prize, and the Strive for Excellence Award. While at Lehigh, Elizabeth was Accounting Club President, a TRAC Writing Fellow, the founder of the gender inclusive bathroom initiative, a coordinator for the Pride Center, and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Beta Alpha Psi.

Megan, who is from Little Falls, NJ, is expecting to graduate as an accounting major in 2018. She has interned with PwC’s advisory group in the Czech Republic, and she is participating in Deloitte’s National Leadership Conference. Megan has received the Dean’s Scholarship and made the Dean’s List during her time at Lehigh. She is also Running Club Treasurer and Women’s Captain, a TRAC Writing Fellow, and Vice President of Women in Business.

Sebastian, who is from Los Angeles, California, is expecting to graduate in May 2017 as an accounting major. He has interned with Deloitte’s audit group in both summer 2015 and 2016 in Los Angeles. Sebastian has also received the Community Service Office Recognition Award and the Donald and Jeanne Swift Scholarship. At Lehigh, he is a member of the Business Career in Entertainment Club, ALPFA, and the Accounting Club.

Rongkai Kevin Sha - accounting student

This is awarded to an outstanding junior in the College of Business and Economics. Rongkai is an international student from Guangzhou, China. He is expecting to graduate in May 2017 as an accounting and business information systems major.  Rongkai is working with GF Securities in Guangzhou, China as an investing banking intern, and he has previously taken part in the PwC Leadership Program in San Francisco, CA. Rongkai has received the Dean’s Scholarship and made the Dean’s list every semester. At Lehigh, he is a volunteer English Tutor in the WVYS Club and a member of the Tae Kwon Do and Toastmasters Club.

This is awarded to an outstanding junior in the College of Business and Economics. Rachel, who is from Skillman, New Jersey, is expecting to graduate in May 2017 as an accounting major and Spanish minor. She is also considering staying at Lehigh for the 1-year Master’s program. During summer 2016, Rachel is interning at PwC in the New York office in the assurance real estate group. At Lehigh, she holds an executive officer position in Alpha Phi, and she is a member of the Accounting Club and Women in Business.

This is awarded to fifth year students at Lehigh on the basis of leadership, citizenship, and scholarship. Kimberly, who is from Severna Park, Maryland, graduated in May 2016 with her Master’s in accounting and information analysis. She will be working with PwC’s assurance group in Philadelphia. Previously, Kimberly interned with PwC in Philadelphia and the Czech Republic. She has also received the Presidential Scholarship and the CBE Nelson Leighton Bond Memorial Prize. At Lehigh, Kimberly was a member of the Varsity Swim Team where she served as co-director of the Academic Leadership Program, and she was a member of Beta Alpha Psi.

Accounting Major Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society Inductees (2015-2016)*

Induction into Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest scholastic honor that a student in business administration can achieve. To be eligible for an invitation, students must be in the upper 10 percent of their class.  Beta Gamma Sigma is the only national honorary scholarship society in the field of business administration recognized by the American of Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
