Major: Accounting
"I wear brown and white with pride and I could not be happier with my experience over these 4 years."

What are your career aspirations?

"Upon graduation, I plan to begin sitting for the CPA exam, which I hope to attain within a years time. After that, I hope to learn a great deal working as an auditor, particularly in the private equity field so that I may one day get involved in the industry myself."

How well do you think the Lehigh business curriculum prepared you for success in getting a job or internship?

"I think choosing the Lehigh business school four years ago was the best decision I could have ever made. From the very first month of classes, I had already created a resume, learned tips to succeed in an interview, as well as began to get a general understanding of the business world through the “Introduction to Business” class. From day 1, the goal of the faculty is to help you get a job and enter the working world with confidence. As an accounting major, I have had the privilege of attending numerous networking events that the CBE sets up for the sole purpose of helping students meet working professional and learn more about the field of their interest. Because of Lehigh’s reputation, its strong, pragmatic curriculum, and abundance of opportunities offered to its students, I definitely believe that I have a competitive advantage."

Have you found the curriculum to be flexible in allowing you to pursue diverse interests in addition to your business interests?

"Having never been outside of North America prior to coming to Lehigh, one of my biggest interests coming into college was gaining some sort of international experience. Fortunately for me, Lehigh offers an abundance of opportunities to go abroad and really pushes students to take advantage of as many as possible. As a result, I have traveled to Rijeka, Croatia for 10 days with the “Lehigh Leadership in Croatia“ program,” during which I participated in a three-day leadership workshop with Croatian mid-level business managers, which covered topics such as leadership style, leading for success, and effective decision making. I have been fortunate enough to receive “The Tauck Scholarship,” which is offered to rising seniors in the business school, which allows students to participate in a fully financed internship abroad to the country of your choice. This past summer I was able to travel to Johannesburg, South Africa for a month and work in Deloitte’s Audit Practice, which provided me with a once in a lifetime opportunity to gain international work experience in a country that I may have never had the ability to travel to without Lehigh’s help. Now, whenever I interview with a firm, a good portion of the time consists of looking back on these international experiences sharing stories of how these kinds of international experiences are so beneficial to one’s development as a person. I would say that Lehigh has definitely provided me with a competitive advantage in that regard."

What experiences outside of your business study, do you credit for some of your success?

"I was fortunate to have been a member of Lehigh’s Track and Field Team for the first three years of my college experience before having to retire as a result of injury. Not only that, but I also held a work-study job that I attend three days a week over the course of my four years as an Assistant to the Secretary of the Provost. I credit nearly all of my success to the experiences that I have learned from as a result of being apart of a team in a competitive environment, as well as the ability to manage and allocate my time. In high school, my mother told me the worst thing I could do was to leave school at 2:30 p.m. and head straight home. I have really taken that message to heart and have done my best to participate in as many extra-curricular as possible, which I truly believe has shaped me to be the person I am today. By staying busy, I have learned invaluable time management skills and have really been able to expose myself to new and different experiences that provide me with challenges and rewards that will help me over the course of the rest of my life."

Have you found someone within the CBE to be particularly helpful as you make important decisions?

"The Career Services department has been extremely helpful over my time here. I have gone several times to Career Services for help with resume building and interview development, which I think has played a big role in my success throughout the job search process."

Do you see yourself as part of a community that is instrumental to success now and beyond Lehigh?

"One of the greatest things about Lehigh is that I have had the ability to not only learn a lot from my professors, but also befriend many of them in the process. My go-to person in the business school since my sophomore year since day one has been Professor Sinclair. Not only have I had him as a professor for two different courses, but he is also my CBE adviser, as well as a friend of mine. Whether it involves planning my course schedule and certain CPA requirements, or just shooting the breeze over college basketball and athletics, I have been able to develop a wonderful relationship with him and many other professors over my time here."

Further, the friends that I have made at Lehigh will last me the rest of my life. Because of athletics and the close knit community that Lehigh offers, I have been able to make friends across the many different aspects of life at Lehigh, and can honestly say that I have friend all over the world because of the incredible diversity that Lehigh offers."

Are you proud to say that you are from Lehigh? If so, “why?”

"I am extremely proud to say that I am from Lehigh. The name carries a certain weight with it so that when you tell an employer or a friend that you go to Lehigh, there is a special kind of awe and sense of distinction that comes along with it. As a native New Yorker, it happens quite often that I am walking down the street wearing Lehigh gear and a complete stranger will mention something to me about the Lehigh-Lafayette rivalry, that time Lehigh beat Duke, or the top-tier academics that Lehigh offers. I wear brown and white with pride and I could not be happier with my experience over these 4 years."
